Gale Crater Panorama

I have been speaking to groups about Mars Curiosity and its journey through Gale crater since the rover was launched in an Atlas V in November of 2011. I have followed the journey it has made through Gale crater and the discoveries of a habitable environment just 2 months into that journey. Over those 6 years I’ve marveled at the careful journey and discoveries it has made while traversing through the lower reaches of Mount Sharp (the mountain in the center of Gale crater). Now that the rover is starting to make more of a climb up Mount Sharp it is able to look back on its journey. This video includes an amazing panoramic view of Gale crater and a unique perspective of the rover’s journey so far. If you have attended any of my talks you have seen these steps from a different perspective. Now enjoy the rover’s viewpoint of the journey. https://www.nasa.gov/feature/jpl/vista-from-mars-rover-looks-back-over-journey-so-far
